Hey, readers!

First things first: I just found out that Silhouette Books is having a flash 99 cents (for US Readers) e-sale on FOREVER BLUE, the second installment in my long-running and recently completed Tall, Dark & Dangerous series about Navy SEAL Team Ten. (Grab it fast—I have no idea how long it will be at this price! They never tell me anything!! Sheesh! As usual, apologies to those who live outside of the sale region!!))
You can find all the various links to your fav e-sellers on my website page for FOREVER BLUE: https://suzannebrockmann.com/books/tall-dark-dangerous/forever-blue/
Second: Happy Freakin’ New Year. (Or happy end of 2023, damn that was another hard year!! I hope you’re all okay. It’s been a while since I’ve sent out a message. This long covid is continuing to kick my ass, but overall, I’m doing much better. My fiction-writing brain’s still not working right, though. And I’m extremely covid-cautious because no one knows what happens when someone with LC gets covid again, and I really do not want to relive any of the past four years of pain!)
Third: My sweet little long-time (free!) email service, Tiny Letter, is shutting down, so I’ve had to move my email list to this other free (to both you and me!!) site. And yeah. Substack. Like Facebook, I am paying them zero. You are paying them zero. So I figure it’ll do for now. If you find another free email site, let me know. (And who knows? Maybe they’ll change! I like to hope they will!)
You don’t have to do a thing and you’ll keep getting my occasional, irregular e-news in your email inbox. (If you’ve got Gmail, it’ll probably show up under your “promotions” tab. You can move my messages into your regular gmail inbox if you want!)
And if it’s time for you to unsubscribe, please leave with my appreciation and sincere thanks for many years of support and that truly magical reader-author connection. (Just scroll down to the bottom of this email. You’ll find the unsubscribe button there!)Anyway, consider this your official heads up that I’ve transferred this list!
You know, this year marks my 30th anniversary of being a published author. My first book, FUTURE PERFECT, was released in August of 1993. Whew! That was back before ebooks existed, my children. It was right at the dawn of AOL. (If I could add sound effects to an email newsletter, I’d insert the sound of internet dial-up here. If you listen hard, you can still hear it…)
I had an AOL account in the early days of my writing career, and back then I created my own reader-email lists. Every time a reader found my email address and wrote to me, I’d write back, thanking them for their kind words, and the last thing I’d say was “If it’s okay with you, I’m going to add your name to my email list so I can let you know when I’ve got new releases.” Pretty much everyone said yes, sign me up.
So I’d copy and paste their email address into a list I created in my AOL email files. And that list grew and grew and grew, reader by reader, one at a time. As more readers found my books, I created a second grouping of reader emails and then a third. But then, one day, when I sent out an email to all my many thousands of readers (BCCed, of course!!), AOL shut me down for spamming! (That was disappointing!) I made a phone call (how did I find the phone number so that I could speak to a human at A-freaking-O-L? I honestly don’t remember!) and I talked my way out of AOL jail. After that, I did a little research, and moved my list (now with many, many thousands of names—all from those emails I’d received, all readers I’d written back to) over to YahooGroups. (If there’s a sound effect for YahooGroups it has to be one of those cartoon BOINGS!)
We all lived over there, relatively happily, for over a decade, until Yahoo got too ancient and creaky to use. It was then I found Tiny Letter. At Tiny Letter, my list grew even larger, but by now I had an email newsletter signup page on my website, so alas the reader-to-writer-to-reader contact happened less frequently.
Anyway here were are: News from Suz 4.0.
As always, and as I’ve done from the start when you first signed up, I promise not to clog your email inbox too often!
Thanks to all of you—to the readers who’ve been on this crazy ride with me for most of those thirty long years—and to the readers who found my books just yesterday! I appreciate all of you!
Vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote, vote! (And check your voter registration!!)
Love and hugs—and remember that love always wins! Don't stop fighting for democracy, equality, equity, peace, and hope,
