Happy Valentine's Day!

It's that time of year when too many news outlets do that annoyingly fluffy feature story on romance novels and the (feather-boa-draped, bonbon-eating?!) authors who write them--usually with a wink and a smirk and at least one reference to "bodice-rippers" and/or Fabio. If, like me, that patronizing, holier-than-thou, only-on-Feb-14th approach to Romancelandia's year-long (lifelong?!) affair with love and connection (and the often steaming hot sex and intimacy that goes with it) chaps your ass, well, here's something you can do about it.

This year, I've added my name to a long, long, (LONG!!) list of Your Favorite Romance Authors who are auctioning off some super-cool stuff (books, plus things, and even experiences!!) to raise money for democracy via an online auction called ROMANCING THE VOTE. The bidding starts at noon ET on Monday, February 14th, and runs through 8 PM CT on Friday, February 18th. But heads up! The auction site is open right now! Go on over and peruse the amazing collectibles that will be available, register (or log in if you've used the site before), and start warming up your auction-winning fingers and dreaming of the prizes you could win!Back in 2020, this same group raised around $500,000 on a project called ROMANCING THE RUNOFF. (I'm so proud to have been a part of that!)This year, the money goes to Stacey Abrams' group, FAIR FIGHT. Yes, THAT Stacey Abrams. The romance novelist (currently she's writing thrillers!) who is destined to be Georgia's next governor. This year, let's show the winkers and smirkers what the romance-reading-and-writing community is really about--that we're a powerful group of smart, effective, fair-minded and caring people who are willing to go all in to help preserve democracy and the right to vote.

Here's what I've donated to the ROMANCING THE VOTE auction that opens on Feb. 14th:Full Manuscript (or book or screenplay!) critique from Suz Brockmann can be found at this auction link: https://www.32auctions.com/organizations/74830/auctions/118039/auction_items/3518580Zoom chat with Suz Brockmannhttps://www.32auctions.com/organizations/74830/auctions/118039/auction_items/3518542 Zoom chat with Jason T. Gaffney (indie film producer/director/writer/actor) and Suz Brockmann: https://www.32auctions.com/organizations/74830/auctions/118039/auction_items/3518582I've also donated 24 personalized, autographed copies of my Tall, Dark & Dangerous (Navy SEAL Team 10) book, Night Watch. This item isn't up on the auction site yet, but will be available as a low-priced "buy it now" option, for people who want to participate while on a limited budget. (We see you! There will be many, many options like this, too, from a large group of Your Favorite Authors and/or New to You Authors.)

What I'm currently reading: How to Marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Daysby K.M. JacksonOoh, you guys, this is a good one! I've been laughing my ass off and rationing, it's that kind of delicious rom-com goodness.Full disclosure: I'm not a hard-core Keanu fan, although I certainly find the man truly delightful and easy on the eyes. But even as someone who missed all but the very first Matrix movies, this book still really works for me. (Okay, I saw Speed way more than once, and all of the older rom-coms, and yeah, Bill and Ted and... okay.)Here's what I know: K.M Jackson is really, really good at delivering the funny. I'm halfway in, and truly enjoying this excellent, well-written, laugh-out-loud-funny romantic comedy.I highly recommend it!

Okay, that's all the news for now!Thank you for your time and attention! Get vaxxed and boosted, wear those masks, help protect the vulnerable! As always, please feel free to email, blog, post, tweet, and/or share any or all of my news with your social circle! I appreciate it when you do! (In fact, I'd love it if you could help get the word out to your friends, family, and social circles about the ROMANCING THE VOTE auction! TY!!) Love and hugs and don't stop fighting for equality, equity, peace, hope, and love,
