Analysis Paralysis will be screening at the Reeling: Chicago Film Festival on September 27th!
And we're gonna be there!
Yes, Chicago! Mark your calendars for Thursday, 9/27, at 9:30 p.m., at the Landmark Century Centre Theatre in Chicago! Analysis Paralysis has been chosen to be screened at a truly iconic LGBTQ film festival!Reeling: Chicago is the second longest-running LGBTQ film fest in the US--this is its 36th year. (That is so, so cool! We are so honored to participate!)
I'm going to attend the 9/27 screening in Chicago, along with my son and our rom-com movie's director/writer/star, Jason T. Gaffney, and his co-star Kevin Held! (Husbands--three!--will be flying in with us, too, including producers Ed Gaffney and Matt Gorlick, and Kevin's husband Nick!)Jason and Kevin will be doing a Q&A following the screening--you don't want to miss that. (Maybe make plans to take Friday morning off...?) If you're in the mood to stay up extra-late, you'll also be able to get tickets to Reeling: Chicago's closing night party--that's where we'll be going after the screening. The Reeling: Chicago website hasn't gone live yet (we got special permission to announce about our date a little early, because we're right at the end of a Kickstarter Campaign--keep reading to find out more!), but you can sign up to get more info about the film fest here: http://reelingfilmfestival.org/2018/We hope that if you're in the area you'll come join us. Oh, and the theatre where the movie is being screened sounds ah-mazing--the perfect date night or group outing destination! Vegan cookies! A full bar! Real butter on the popcorn! Great restaurants nearby! Scroll down to read the theatre's little descriptive blurb!
Our Kickstarter Campaign for OUT OF BODY, our next LGBTQ rom-com indie movie, ends on Tuesday, Aug. 21st!
This is it, people! Your last chance to help us make our next indie movie and get, as your Kickstarter "backer reward," the opportunity to beta-read my next Navy SEAL book, King's Ransom! This book is the long awaited installment of my Tall, Dark & Dangerous series featuring the romance between LT (jg) Thomas King and admiral's niece, Tasha Francisco, who met years ago on the pages of Frisco's Kid.
Here's the blurb for that (soon to be written and shared with you) book:
In Frisco's Kid, Tasha was a strong-willed, independent child, temporarily living with her uncle, Alan "Frisco" Francisco, a Navy SEAL with a knee injury that had forced his retirement from the Teams.
Ten years older, but still just a kid himself, Thomas King lived nearby, and was friends with Mia, the woman who would win Alan's heart, and help raise Tasha.
Years ago, Tasha took one look at Thomas and declared that she would marry him someday...
Thomas wasn't quite so sure about that...
But now Tasha's twenty-one and a strong-willed, independent young woman, and Thomas has been a Navy SEAL himself--and a hospital corpsman, focusing on saving lives--for quite a few years.
Tasha's Uncle Alan asks Thomas for a favor--to keep his niece safe as she goes on vacation with her college boyfriend, who is an actual prince from a small European nation.
Thomas grimly accepts his role as Tasha's bodyguard so she can meet her boyfriend's royal family, but then things go horribly, terribly wrong, and he and Tash find themselves alone together, on the run from dangerous men who want her dead...
And Thomas knows only one thing: He will sacrifice everything to keep Tasha safe.
"So," you ask. "What exactly does it all mean: Kickstarter campaign, backer reward, be a beta reader...?"I'm crowd-funding another LGBTQ rom-com movie called Out of Body via Kickstarter.Kickstarter allows enthusiastic supporters of the arts to help filmmakers make indie films without having to get either Hollywood's approval or a second mortgage on their house. I'm part of a team of people who want to make fairly traditional rom-com movies--with gay men as the two romantic leads. But making movies is enormously expensive. That's where Kickstarter comes in.Kickstarter is a trustworthy site where storytellers and filmmakers like me can pitch our movies to people who like good storytellling, like you. If you choose to support our project, you get all of the warm fuzzies for helping bring our rom-coms into the world, plus we'll give you buckets and boatloads of appreciation and thanks--AND we also let you choose some pretty unique "rewards," in return for your support. So, for example, our Kickstarter campaign for Out of Body gives you an opportunity to support our film and get, as your "reward," the opportunity to beta-read King's Ransom. "What's a beta-read...?" you now ask. After you select "Beta-Read" as all or part of your Kickstarter reward for backing OOB, you'll give me your email address, and when I finish writing King's Ransom, I'll email you an early draft of the book. You'll be part of small group of readers who get to read it first. And, if you want, you get to give me feedback. What did you like? What didn't you like? I'll provide you with a list of questions about the book that you can feel free to answer, if you want. But really, the response is up to you and entirely optional. Bottom line is this: if you email me with your feedback, we'll have an email conversation about the book. There are other really cool "rewards" for backing Out of Body. You can be a beta-viewer, and watch an early "draft" of our rom-com movie--and provide feedback for that, too! You can choose the "Double Beta" reward, and both beta-read King's Ransom and beta-view Out of Body. There are other "book rewards," too -- get a signed print copy of SEAL Camp, my latest TDD book, or a signed print copy of Out of Body. But remember, you're not simply "buying" a book through Kickstarter. No, you're supporting our efforts to make a great LGBTQ rom-com movie, and you're getting the signed book as your "reward."All of our rewards include your name in OUT OF BODY's end credits. You know how credits roll at the end of a movie? Well, we'll have a list that says "Special Thanks to Our Kickstarter Backers," and if you back our movie, your name will be there (if you want it there!) when the credits roll. Our Kickstarter campaign for OUT OF BODY ends on Tuesday, August 21st, so if you want to go check it out, definitely do it soon! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/suzannebrockmann/out-of-body-a-feature-length-lgbtq-rom-com-movieNote: We're going to be setting up an IndieGoGo campaign to continue to support our movie as we move into festival season, but the "Be a Beta-Reader for King's Ransom" reward won't be part of that. This a one-time Kickstarter-only thing! If you're not into clicking links, go to Kickstarter at www.Kickstarter.com and search for OUT OF BODY, and you'll find us! (Thank you!)Reminder: Our Kickstarter Campaign ends on Tuesday, August 21st!
Audiobook! Audiobook!
The audiobook of SEAL Camp will be out on September 11th from Blackstone Audio! It's read by Patrick Lawlor and Melanie Ewbank, and I can't wait to hear them bring this story and its characters, Jim and Ashley, to life.Patrick reports that he particuarly enjoyed the "pull a baseball cap out of his ass" line. I expect a brilliant reading from him, as always!And...The two stars of the coming rom-com movie version of Out of Body just went into a recording studio in LA to narrate the audiobook edition of the novelization of this story. (Did you follow that...?! The novelization, written by me, is available in ebook and print from Suzanne Brockmann Books, and will be out soon in audio from Blackstone Audio! I don't have the date yet, but will let you know ASAP!)Just as in our upcoming movie, Jason T. Gaffney (who will also direct), played and read the part of Henry, and his acting partner and co-star, Kevin Held, played and read the part of Malcolm. We also did something a little different for OOB from my usual audiobooks--the guys made this recording a bit more like a radio-play. So while Jason reads all the scenes written from Henry's point of view, Kevin continues to read Mal's lines of dialogue in those scenes. And vice versa, with Jason reading Henry's dialogue in Mal's point of view scenes narrated by Kevin. So the conversations between the two main characters really pop! This is a kinda cool and interesting project for us.By the time we're done, Out of Body is going to be available as a romance novel in ebook, print, and audio, and a feature-length rom-com movie! (I'm not sure what's left--a graphic novel...?)Here're a few pics of the guys in the studio:I can't wait to hear Jason's and Kevin's audiobook narration of Out of Body. As soon as I know the audiobook release date, I'll pass that info on to you!(Don't forget: Kickstarter! Kickstarter! Ends 8/21!)
Here's that info I promised you, above, about the theatre in Chicago where Analysis Paralysis will be screened on 9/27 at 9:30 p.m.:
Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema 7 was extensively renovated in the Spring of 2015. The theatre added a separate bar and upgraded to new seats which include full recliners in the two new VIP Screening Lounges. This is the city’s first all-stadium seating theatre showcasing independent and foreign language films. Enjoy the plush high-back, leather style seats in five auditoriums, or reserve a seat and recline in one of the intimate screening lounges. The newly remodeled concession area continues to feature Landmark’s famous fresh hot popcorn, available with real butter, as well as a variety of food and beverage offerings including vegan cookies, fair-trade certified chocolate bars, organic iced teas and traditional cinema fare. Relax at The Century Bar where you can enjoy local and imported beers, fine wines, liquors and signature drinks or take your drink into the auditorium with you. Nestled into the fourth, fifth and sixth levels of the Century Shopping Centre, it is surrounded by award-winning restaurants and shopping opportunities on Chicago's bustling near-north side.
Vegan cookies, people! (Plus, you know, Analysis Paralysis on the BIG screen on 9/27 at 9:30 p.m.!!)

Again, we're all planning to attend: Jason & Matt, co-star Kevin Held and his husband Nick, and Ed and me!!)As always, thank you so much for your time and attention! Please feel free to email, blog, post, tweet, and/or share any or all of my news with your social circle!
