News from Suzanne Brockmannwww.SuzanneBrockmann.comwww.BookBub.com/authors/suzanne-brockmannwww.facebook.com/SuzanneBrockmannBookswww.twitter.com/SuzBrockmann So. Nazis. I’m in the kick-their-asses camp. Nazis are the bad guys in every story, no exception. I fervently hope you’re on board that particular train with me. (You must be! I'm pretty sure most potential Nazi sympathizers left when I refused to back down to objections about including LGBTQ characters in my books...)So.Deep breath. In. And out. Exhale with me now. Whew. I’ve got some extremely lightweight news today about hot deals on some of my older books.
Let’s start with The Unsung Hero: If kicking Nazi ass is your current jam (as it is for me!), and you haven’t yet picked up the first book in my Troubleshooters series—or if you’re ready for a rousing re-read, The Unsung Hero (TS #1) is on perma-sale for $2.99 in all ebook formats. While TUH’s main plot is about a Navy SEAL officer who spots a terrorist in his sleepy New England town while he’s home recovering from a head injury, this book also has a nifty WWII subplot about an American fighter pilot whose plane goes down over Nazi-occupied France. Our Army Air Force WWII-subplot hero goes into hiding with a group of French Resistance fighters as he heals from his wounds.Spoiler Alert: WE WIN THE WAR AGAINST THE NAZIS!! (And we will again!)The Unsung Hero:Amazon: http://amzn.to/2uZsBc8Nook: http://bit.ly/2i4guJSKobo: http://bit.ly/2w80eO5iBooks: http://apple.co/2uN5O4dGooglePlay: http://bit.ly/2uGRBtE I’m also reissuing a whole pile of my romance novels as the rights to my older books slowly revert back to me. I haven’t changed them—well, not too much. They are delightfully set in the mid-to-late 1990s, and when I reread them I found that to be extremely refreshing. 2017 sucks. So what better way to escape than to slip sweetly into 1997 or 1998 or 1999, when hair and cell phones were big, and pay phones were everywhere, and some of us still wore pagers... Definitely check out my reissues page on my website to see my complete collection of 1990s (and 1990s-priced!) goodness: http://suzannebrockmann.com/upcoming/reissues/ But red alert, because I’ve priced two of my recent reissues at “Hot Deal” levels:
Heart Throb, my very first single title contemporary romance, originally published in March 1999, is on sale for $4.99. It features a former A-list actor who is five years clean and sober as the hero, and a movie writer-producer as the kickass heroine. They’re making a low budget indie movie set just before the (first-and-please-god-only) American Civil War, so there’s a historical subplot in this book, as well as a sweet romance between two teenage actors, Susie and Jamaal.Heart Throb is one of my personal favorite books. Aside from the rampant pay phones and Yellow Pages, it has held up remarkably well. Heart Throb was originally published in a 344 page paperback. My current POD print edition is 272 pages, but I’ve made the margins extra-narrow! Also on e-sale is my time travel romance! (Did you know I wrote a time travel romance...? Why yes, I did!)Time Enough for Love (my original title was Double Vision, but nope, I’m not gonna change it now. Too confusing for readers who’ve already read it!!) is the story of a scientist who invents time travel, but then watches in horror as some very bad men use it to overthrow the government. He uses his time machine to go back, just a few years (to the early 1990s!), to convince his younger self to not invent time travel! And yeah, there’s a certain woman in his past—and she gets into a love triangle with the past and present versions of the same man!Yeah, there's a scene where the hero discusses his feelings for the heroine with... his younger self! That was fun to write. It, too, holds up well. Time Enough for Love is a shorter book, originally published by Bantam Loveswept. It was also a RITA finalist in the paranormal category. Its original edition had 212 pages, but my POD print edition has narrow margins and about 160 pages. The ebook is bite-sized-priced at $2.99, so grab it fast! They all have nifty new covers, and brief author’s notes in the back. I’ve made a few changes here and there—nothing major, although I have to confess that in Body Language, a book where the hero gives the heroine a Pygmalion-esque make-over, I couldn’t help myself and I edited out the part where he talks her into getting a perm. (Instead, she gets highlights.) (Some things are just TOO 1990s.) I’ve got more reissues coming at you in the next few months: Future Perfect (My very first published book, where my very first editor made me un-gay my gay small-town sheriff... And yes, I’m finally restoring him to his original fabulous self in this soon to be released edition!), Freedom’s Price, Embraced by Love, and the long-out-of-print (and never epubbed) Give Me Liberty.
To be honest, Give Me Liberty isn’t exactly, um, my strongest work. (Originally published by Precious Gems. Remember them?) So I might have to epub an annotated edition where I can discuss the book’s highs and lows via footnotes, kinda like a director’s cut. Did I say highs? I meant lows and lows. Example: the hero is a small-town millionaire who owns (among other things) several video rental stores. Okay. We’re pre-Blockbuster here, people. Damn. And he’s raising a million dollars to buy back his family land from a developer. (“A meeeellion dollars,” she said in her best Dr. Evil voice.) See how annotating that might be necessary...?!? Could actually be kinda fun... I’ll keep you posted. And I'll zap you another email when I offer my other recently reissued books at more of the above “Hot Deal” prices.
