Here comes the sun!
Little darlin', it's been a long, cold, lonely winter... But tonight we finally spring ahead! We might lose an hour of sleep, but tomorrow, we'll gain a brilliant, bright, lovely, wonderful extra hour of late-afternoon-early-evening sunshine, and I'm totally ready to make that trade! To celebrate, I've put Kiss and Tell, the first book in my Sunrise Key Trilogy of romantic comedies on e-sale at the grab-it-now price of $2.99 I wrote my Sunrise Key series relatively early in my career--they were originally published by Bantam's Loveswept line of category romances in the mid-1990s.All three books are set in small-town Florida, on a remote, fictional Gulf Coast island called Sunrise Key. Kiss and Tell kicks off the series with a bang when New York City-dweller Leila Hunt comes home to Sunrise Key to spend her winter vacation with her brother Simon. Simon's best friend (Trope alert!) and Leila's childhood nemesis Marshall Devlin, the town doctor, is staying with Simon because his house recently burned down. Leila and Marsh clash as they always do.But it's New Year's Eve, and good-time Simon's known for throwing the most excellent parties. This year, it's a masquerade. Leila's dressed as Cinderella, and in a twist on the fairytale, she's kissed at midnight by a man in a ninja costume who almost immediately runs away. His pager goes off--1990s alert!--and even though the music is up too loud to hear him, he manages to promise Leila that he'll return. He never does. That was Some Kiss. The earth moved and Leila saw fireworks--and yes, okay, there were fireworks at the party, but... She's at a crossroads in her life romantically, and she decides, as the new year dawns, that she's going to track down her mysterious ninja and see if that kiss was the real deal, or a champagne-inspired fluke. Her brother Simon points out that he saw at least four men wearing ninja costumes at the party. With his--and Marsh's--help, Leila makes a list of suspects, including town sheriff Liam Halliday, the newly hired and very hot town lifeguard Hayden Young, and the newly divorced town billionaire, Preston Seaholm. (Yes, Sunrise Key has a town billionaire. Work with me here, people. Billionaire trope alert: Otherwise Engaged, Sunrise Key book #3, is Pres Seaholm's book!)Leila's list is still one ninja short (My original working title of this book was The Fourth Ninja), but she sets out to meet--and potentially kiss--each of her three suspects to see if they're the man who rocked her world at midnight.Along the way, she gets to know Marsh, and see bits and pieces of his life on Sunrise Key...Have I mentioned that Leila's quirky, funny best friend, Frankie Paresky, still lives on the key...? Frankie's the 90's equivalent of a gig worker. She drives the town taxi, and has recently gotten her PI license--and successfully found Becca Tennison's retainer in the school dumpster! (The Kissing Game, (SK #3) is Frankie's book--Frankie's and Leila's brother Simon's! That's a fun one!) (Okay, I think they're all fun!!)It was my original plan when I first wrote Kiss and Tell to write more than a trilogy of books set in small-town Florida. Kiss and Tell was Leila and Marsh's book, then came Simon and Frankie's book, The Kissing Game, with Otherwise Engaged featuring the town billionaire (cough).I'd intended to write books for the lifeguard and the sheriff, too. Plus there's a character in Otherwise Engaged, a good friend of Preston's, who was tapping me on the shoulder, announcing his availability. (You'll know him when you see him!) But Loveswept stopped publishing, and I got caught up in writing both my Tall, Dark & Dangerous series and my Troubleshooters series, and it was not to be. (At least not yet...)Kiss and Tell on esale now for $2.99 !!
Here's the blurb for Kiss and Tell:
Her brother’s irritating best friend…
Leila Hunt spent her childhood plotting her escape from small-town life on Sunrise Key—when she wasn’t being teased and tormented by her brother Simon and his friend with the annoyingly sexy British accent, Marshall Devlin.
Now Marsh is the remote island’s only doctor—and his year’s been less-than good. His house burned down so he’s staying with Simon, and many of his local patients—some of which have four legs and a tail—don’t have the means to pay. Still, he loves his small-town life with one exception—he misses his lively arguments with Leila.
His best friend’s annoying little sister…
Leila lives and works in New York City, but her life, too, is anything but complete. She’s actually considering a loveless marriage with a colleague—until a holiday visit home turns her world upside down.
At Simon’s annual New Year’s Eve masquerade party, Leila’s dressed like Cinderella. But instead of fleeing at midnight, she’s kissed by a masked man in a ninja costume and he’s the one to run away—promising his swift return. When he doesn’t come back, Leila’s left wondering if the magic she felt from that stranger’s kiss could possibly be real. With Marsh’s “help,” she sets out to track down her ninja, little realizing this man with whom she’s sparked and sparred for years has the power to set her world aflame.
