News from Suz Brockmannwww.SuzanneBrockmann.com@SuzBrockmann (on Twitter)Friday, October 9, 2020 (Three and a half weeks to go...)

Since I last emailed at the end of February, the shit has really hit the fan, huh?Like most of you, I've been in lockdown since March. My husband is extremely high risk, so we've been trapped in Florida, unable to fly and unable to drive because public restrooms are a hard #Nope. We've actually bought a pop-up changing tent and a camping bucket, because if our absentee ballots don't arrive in the next week or so, we'll drive 1000 miles, stopping only for gas, to cast our votes for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. That's our plan, what's yours? And if right now you're screaming (or muttering) that authors shouldn't "get political," let me introduce you to the unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email. (Seriously, though. Don't you know me? Have we met? How did you get on my enews list anyway, because I've never NOT been political. In fact, no romance author or fiction writer out there is. At this perilous moment for our nation's democracy, anyone (author or reader!!) who's NOT speaking up, who's not voicing their full-throated support of Democrats from Biden/Harris all the way down the ticket is absolutely saying that they're fine with our downward slide into authoritarianism and oppression. I think democracy--and America--is worth saving. So I'm all in, and I hope you are, too.)My news today includes three action items for those of you who haven't rushed to unsub, and one piece of info (about King's Ransom, my next TDD SEAL book!):1. VOTE BLUE. Vote as early as you can, as safely as you can! And please encourage friends and family to vote blue, too! 2. I'm a text banking moderator for Biden/Harris Victory2020, and it's not too late to join our text team. It's way easier than phone banking. You don't use your own phone or number--it's all done via computer and internet access. You can help out for as little as a hour at a time, on your schedule! We use two apps: Slack and ThruText, and there's a script that we follow, revising slightly as necessary. As a moderator, I hang out on the Slack channels, ready to answer questions and help any texters who get asked off-script questions. To join, you need to take a training session--that takes about an hour. After that, you learn by diving in (and getting help from mods like me)! If you join, find me on Slack (search for Suzanne Brockmann) and toss me a quick hello! Here's the link to sign up for text bank training: https://www.mobilize.us/2020victory/event/293967/  (P.S. I'm generally on shift as a moderator most days starting around 3 or 4 pm ET!)3. Saturday, October 10th from 3 - 5 PM ET !! Phone banking for Joe Biden with Sarah MacLean, Fated Mates, and Indivisible! If making phone calls is more your jam, you can join Sarah and a large group of romance readers and authors this Saturday, 10/10/20, from 3 - 5 pm ET. They meet via Zoom and provide support to one another while they make the calls! They say: "Read Romance, Fight Patriarchy, Be Part of the Blue Wave! Join the Fated Mates hosts (and special guests!) to phonebank in Wisconsin for Election 2020 and help turn the country blue in November!" Spoiler alert! I'm one of this Saturday's special guests! I'll be popping in toward the end of the shift, and I'm giving away ebook copies of my two latest books, OUT OF BODY (m/m Halloween-themed rom-com) or SEAL CAMP ( f/m dramady adventure, Tall, Dark & Dangerous Navy SEAL Team Ten #12) as a special, extra "Thank you!" to everyone who participates! Here's more from Sarah: Never phonebanked before? That's ok! You will need a laptop/tablet, your cell phone, and internet access. To get familiarized with phonebanking on Hubdialer before the Zoom event, view our training video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPI5mml-W8AHere's a link to sign up for Saturday's phone banking: https://indivisible.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwvf-mhqD4vEtE-YurB2sIb1rfTpRUl29CX

4. Yup, I finished writing King's Ransom. Thomas King and Tasha Francisco, originally introduced in 1997's Frisco's Kid, have finally gotten their long-awaited HEA.The new book clocked in at around 90K words--which is much longer than all of the other books in the TDD series. (But since I'm publishing this book via my own "Suzanne Brockmann Presents" line of ebooks and print-on-demand, I get to make my own rules! Yay!)Romance tropes alert: Friends to lovers, snowbound/trapped together, bodyguard themes abound!King's Ransom is being beta-read and copy edited right now. My plan is to release it as soon as possible, probably in the last few weeks of October. Watch for a pre-order button going up at your favorite ebookseller site soon! Here's the blurb for King's Ransom:

The book that readers have been waiting for. In Frisco's Kid, Tasha was a strong-willed, independent child, temporarily staying with her Navy SEAL uncle, Alan "Frisco” Francisco.  Years older, but still just a kid himself, Thomas King lived nearby. Tasha took one look at Thomas and declared she'd marry him someday. Thomas wasn't quite so sure about that... Now Tasha's a strong-willed, independent young woman, and Thomas is a hospital corpsman with SEAL Team Ten. When Tasha's Uncle Alan asks Thomas for a favor—to help keep his niece safe as she travels to a remote ski lodge with her wealthy boyfriend’s royal family—Thomas grimly accepts his role as Tasha's bodyguard. But things go horribly, terribly wrong, and Thomas and Tasha find themselves alone together in the freezing wilderness, on the run from the dangerous men who want her dead. Thomas knows only one thing for sure: He'll sacrifice everything and anything to keep Tasha safe.

Okay, so that's the news!

(Oh, you may not know this, but my 2018 release, OUT OF BODY, is a Halloween themed rom-com, so if you're looking for something that's just a *little* spooky but filled with humor and love, check it out at https://suzannebrockmann.com/books/out-of-body/ )Today's my mom's 89th birthday--the whole family will be celebrating with her via Zoom--gotta go get ready!! I hope to see you on Saturday or as part of the texting team on Slack! That's all the news for now! Thank you for your time and attention! Please feel free to email, blog, post, tweet, and/or share any or all of my news with your social circle! I appreciate it when you do!Vote Blue, vote early, vote safely, vote BLUE BLUE BLUE BLUE, Suz
