INFAMOUS is on e-sale for $2.99 !!
Happy New Year! We made it to 2021!
To celebrate, I've put the book of my heart (aka my most favorite non-Troubleshooters, non-Tall, Dark & Dangerous book) on e-sale!Like the books in my Troubleshooters series, Infamous has multiple storylines and major subplots, all intertwined together. And like both my TS and TDD series, the hero, AJ Gallagher, is military--former Army and a veteran of the First Gulf War. He's also the direct descendant of the Wild West's most notorious outlaw, Jamie "Kid" Gallagher--the villain from the legendary shootout at the Red Rock Saloon in Jubilation, Arizona.(Sidebar: Yes, while AJ was overseas during the war, he worked closely with a team of Navy SEALs. A SEAL named Craig Lutz puts in an important appearance in this book, for those of you who must! Have! SEALs! in your romance novels. I deliver!!)Unlike most of my TS and TDD books, Infamous's hero AJ has struggled enormously with his return to civilian life. But after lots of hard work through rehab, and after many years of sobriety and continued recovery, AJ's living a quiet life as a furniture-maker, surrounded by supportive friends and family in his quirky hometown of Heaven, Alaska. (Think Stars Hollow, but in Alaska!!)AJ's content with his quiet life when he's suddenly faced with a new challenge: He's being haunted by the ghost of his long-dead great-grandfather.
See, every so often, Hollywood produces another retelling of the Red Rock Saloon legend, and this current production is named Quinn, after the legend's hero, US Marshall Silas Quinn, who single-handedly battled both Kid Gallagher and the Kelly Gang at the Red Rock Saloon. According to the legend, Quinn killed most of the gang, but Gallagher survived--only to abduct and murder Quinn's beloved wife Melody. However Jamie--the ghost who's haunting AJ--says that's just not true. The legend's completely ass-backwards. And Jamie wants AJ to trave to the movie set--on location in Jubilation, Arizona--and clear his good name.Which brings us to Alison Carter, a history professor from Boston College, who's written the definitive book on Silas Quinn. Alison has been hired by the production as an historical consultant--she's there to make sure this version of the movie gets the legend right. Brain-Casting alert! When I wrote Infamous, I pictured Allison Janney--CJ Cregg from The West Wing--as my Alison. She's smart and funny and can chew up a scene. She's also a perfect match for AJ Gallagher.Like I mentioned, Infamous has a bunch of other major subplots. The Old-West-set story of Jamie "Don't call me Kid" Gallagher's relationship with Melody Quinn plays out in part through Melody's diary entries, as well as through Jamie, who is a point-of-view character in the book. There's also a coupla nice little romantic arcs between two FBI agents who are undercover in Jubilation to investigate a murder, as well as a sweetly satisfying romance for AJ's mother, Rose, back in Heaven, Alaska.Part thriller, part rom-com, part Western historical, part small-town family romance with a military hero and smart, funny heroine.Oh, one last thing! Jamie Gallagher is probably my most favorite, most fun-to-write character that I've ever written, coming in a close second to Jules Cassidy! :-) “INFAMOUS is the perfect combination of humor, mystery, danger, intrigue and romance.
